70 Susan chair
At Norwegian Prototypes

At the Norwegian Prototypes Exhibition on Brick Lane, Alex presents a new chair called "70 Susan". The chair was originally designed for his mother's 70th Birthday earlier this year and revisits the ergonomic and proportional consideration of a traditional kitchen chair.

Thumb stool
At TEN XYZ at 100% Design

Alex has worked with the Metropolitan Works Creative Industry Centre to develop a solid wood stool called Thumb. By utilising their digitally scanning technology, Alex has been able to create a very simple product. The first prototype was made from plasticine in a few minutes with fingers and thumbs, digitally scanned and then finally made out of solid wood. The result is a delightfully simple piece, full of the joys of creation.

Ulrik stool
At SCP East

SCP launched the Ulrik stool as part of the SCP Boxed Collection in Milan earlier this year and is presenting the whole collection at SCP East during the London Design Festival. The Ulrik stool is made from solid ash and features a beautifully executed joinery detail that allows the seat to be constructed from two separate parts. This detail gives the stool both poise and a comfortable sitting position. The natural splay of the legs, gives the stool a personality and wit all its own.
