2009 COLLECTION
The 2009 Collection is the result of work developed in collaboration and for commission. Working with Muse Restaurant, a new establishment opening in Melbourne, Australia, in late 2009, Steve has designed a dining chair and a petit-four display. In collaboration with Ponoko, the first online shop for individualised goods, Steve has designed a shelving unit that can be made in a variety of materials. Completing the collection is the Prop table lamp, a piece that has been developed over the last 12 months. Following the commercial launch of the Prop table lamp early in 2009, we are pleased to announce that the lamp has been shortlisted for the Elle Decoration British Design Awards 2009.
Muse
Dining Chair
A cantilever dining chair with a frame made from laser cut, vacuum formed Moso Bamboo with a natural side pressed veneer. Upholstered in a section of stretched and draped vegetable tanned leather.
The PT4 Petit Fours Display is made from vacuum formed Birch plywood petals with a laser cut Birch plywood base. Finished in gloss white food-grade epoxy with a sterling silver collar.
Ponoko
Shelving Unit
Exhibited version is made from laser cut American Cherry veneer MDF shelves and a clear thermo-plastic polyester. The Ponoko Shelf kit is available for purchase in various materials via the Ponoko website.
Prop
Table Lamp
The Prop is a black acrylic table lamp consisting of three laser cut moulded pieces that radiate from a central triangular form. The manufacturing process used ensures an absolute minimum of material wastage from a single acrylic sheet, 3% in fact. The Prop is now in stock and available to buy, for press loans or to specify on projects.
